How To Remove The 3.1 Admin Bar

By now you should be experiencing blogging life with 3.1 (and if you aren’t then you really should upgrade, especially since the 3.1.1 patch was released) and should be enjoying the new and improved features that it has to offer.

One feature you might have noticed is that when you log into the admin panel, if you load up your blog in a new window you will notice the admin bar at the top. Some people believe this is a great new feature but there are some of us who find it quite annoying.

If you are one of the ones who find it irritating then there is a way to remove it, and it isn’t very difficult to do.

Simply open the function.php file of your WordPress theme and at the bottom (just before the ?>) paste in the following code:

wp_deregister_script(‘admin-bar’);
wp_deregister_style(‘admin-bar’);
remove_action(‘wp_footer’,’wp_admin_bar_render’,1000);

That is it, you should now see the admin bar has disappeared. 🙂
