When someone asked you if you were on Facebook you had two choices, you could either give them the URL which would be something like http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234567890 or you could tell them to search for your name or business – not something that many people will want to do.
Thankfully Facebook have come up with an easier way with their vanity URL feature.
The way it works is you get to pick a name so the URL would be http://www.facebook.com/yourname. This will be much easier to remember and give out to friends. family and even strangers. No matter if your business is about selling high-end cars or littlite led lights, your business can be helped with a vanity url.
There are two drawbacks though.
1. You have to get in quick to grab your name as not only is it first come first serve but cyber squatters are creating new Facebook accounts just to own popular names.
2. You must have signed up for a Facebook account before June 2009. If you signed up during June then you will have to sit on your hands and wait your turn.
The link to get your vanity URL is http://www.facebook.com/username. Choose wisely though as there is no going back, you only get one chance.
