5 Essential WordPress Plugins

If you aren’t utilizing all of the plugins that are available on WordPress, you are missing out. Plugins work with Premium WordPress templates so people can create blogs that are full of exciting features. Let’s take a look at five essential WordPress plugins. Once you see these plugins, you’ll want to add them to your blog.

All in One SEO Pack

Search engine optimization (SEO) is one of the biggest components of Internet marketing. If you want people to see your blog, it has to be optimized for the search engines. Fortunately, the All in One SEO Pack can help. You can use it as-is or fine-tune the settings. Regardless of the option you choose, it will help you optimize your blog for the search engines, which means it will be easier for people to find you online. That’s important, regardless of if you’re using your blog for fun or for business.

Sitemap can also help you with your SEO needs. This plugin will create a sitemap for your blog. You can customize the sitemap to your liking. Once it’s created, search engine robots will be able to crawl your site and index all of your content. That means it will be much easier for people to find your blog.

As you probably know, more and more people are using mobile devices to browse the web. If your blog isn’t mobile friendly, you might end up with a high bounce rate. WPtouch will actually make your blog mobile friendly. Then, if people use their smartphones or tablets to read your blog, they will get a fully customized experience.

Akismet is basically a spam filter. However, instead of weeding out spam emails, it weeds out fake comments and trackbacks. Spammy comments can quickly derail a conversation, so this is a must-have plugin.

JetPack gives WordPress.org users access to features that used to only be available on WordPress.com. The plugin displays statistics, checks grammar and spelling and has social media sharing options. This plugin will also send your phone push notifications when you get a new comment. You can even use it to post to your blog from your email account. These are just some of the countless features available with this plugin.

These plugins will help you get so much more out of your blog.  With that in mind, head over to WordPress’s Plugin Directory so you can optimize your blog.

Good sharing.. Akismet is a must plugin to install since it is very important to prevent spams. Luv Comment is a pretty good one, but I would prefer to use disqus, or the ordinary wordpress comment.

Thanks for making a list. I had to go through trial and error, when I was first trying out plugins to add to my toolbox..To say the least, with all the version, and what not. MANY BROKE MY WordPress Installation.

Oh I remember doing this back in 2007, it is a horrible thing to do and thankfully I now have a small collection of plugins that I stick to and only very rarely try new ones and only on small test blogs first.

Since converting to WordPress a few months ago, plugins have been a productivity godsend. I try not to overdo it because I’ve also read that too many plugins can have a significant negative effect on pageload speed.

It certainly can slow you down if you have too many plugins, which is why it is important to keep an eye on how many you are running.
